Gone are the days of the Purple Haze,
And the Magical Mystery Tour.
Janis is gone, and Jimi, and John,
And music's not nearly as pure.

Carl and Brian would sing about flyin'
Down the road in a Custom Machine,
Paul and Art sang with a bittersweet pang
'Bout a girl that they met in a dream,
Or Scarborough Fair; while Sonny and Cher
Asked for music on a Tambourine,
The Fabulous Four were never a bore
As they sailed in their bright Submarine.

When the weather was fine One Toke Over the Line,
When the Times really were A-Changin',
When Classical Gas didn't come from an ass,
When folks in the streets were gyratin',
When music was real, and had just the right feel
For relaxing and Taking it Easy,
The Beat Went On from song to song,
Even though the times were crazy.

Yes, gone are the days of the Purple Haze,
And people all Coming Together.
Though the world is still changing and the '60s are fading,
The music will last forever.
